November 13th saw the anniversary of writer Robert Louis Stevenson’s birth marked by RLS Day. To tie in with the day, Iain Anderson gave a spin to my track Requiem on his BBC Radio Scotland show.
Requiem, taken from the most recent album Volcanoes, uses the words of RLS’ poem of the same name and marries them to an original tune. Also featured on the recording are my Sorries partner, Martin Philip, and Alan R Davison.

Another Edinburgh gig coming up, when I return to Bar Brig on Leith Walk for an afternoon set on Sunday 17th November. When I played there a couple of months ago it was a lovely, intimate gig so really looking forward to this one. I’ll be on about 3.30pm and entry is free.
The series of autumn gigs continues this Friday (4th October) when I play at The Bailie in Stockbridge, Edinburgh. It’s about 15 years since I last played there so it’ll be nice to return!
I’ll be on about 11pm and entry is free.
I’m back in live action on the afternoon of Sunday 29th October, when I’ll be playing a set at Bar Brig in Leith.
I’m on at 5pm and entry is free.
I’m playing a solo gig at The Mash Tun, Easter Road, Edinburgh, on Sunday 15th September. I’m on stage at 7.45pm and entry is free.
Thanks to everyone who came along to the A Songwriters’ Circle presents… show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on the 2nd August. I had a great time playing alongside my old friend and collaborator Alan R Davison, and it was lovely to air some songs we hadn’t played together for years, as well as some new ones which we’ve never attempted before.
Who knows, there could be more duo gigs in the offing – watch this space…
